Labor Day Break
There are no school classes this Friday, September 3rd and Monday, September 6th due to the Labor Day holiday. Enjoy your last little bit of summer! Classes will resume Tuesday, September 7th.
Our hot lunch program begins again in
September. A hot lunch order form was sent home with K-8 students last week,
and needs to be returned for those wishing to participate along with payment by
this Thursday, September 2nd. Please see the ministry table by the pastors’
offices if you need an extra copy. See the order slip for more details.
School families are invited to join us for our Wednesday school chapel service this week Wednesday, September 1st from 8:05 to 8:35 a.m. Parents, family and friends are welcome! Our chapel theme this year follows our school year theme of “set your minds on things above” by focusing on the awesome miracles of God. A chapel offering is collected at our chapel services to be designated to a mission project each year. An envelope is provided with this note to remind the students of our collection. This year our chapel offerings will benefit the WELS World Missions program serving the people of Pakistan. Please remember this ministry in your family’s daily prayers.
We still have a number of families that need to complete their TADS tuition agreements. All agreements must be completed by the end of this week. If you are having difficulty with the system, please contact Mr. Schneck, and he will help you through it.
School Sports - Soccer
Soccer practices continue this week Monday through Wednesday, August 30th to September 2nd from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. THERE IS NO PRACTICE THIS THURSDAY. Boys and girls in grades 3 to 8 are eligible. Those wishing to participate must have returned signed sports forms if they have not already done so. Players should also make sure they bring their cleats, sports clothes, shin guards, and water bottles to practice. ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS NEED TO HAVE A SIGNED CONCUSSION AWARENESS FORM AND A SIGNED ATHLETIC AGREEMENT (ONE PER FAMILY) ON FILE.
School classes start at 8:00 a.m. Students should be in
their desks and ready to go at that time. Bringing your child late to school
can be frustrating for them, as they don’t get proper time to settle in for the
day, as well as disruptive for the class. If you are late bringing your child
to school, they must come with a written excuse from their parent indicating
the reason for their tardiness, or you may also phone into the office to let us
know you will be late and your reason. Please remember that three unexcused
tardies result in one absent day being applied to their school record, as per
our handbook policy.
Whenever possible, please notify the teacher in advance
of any absences. If your child is going to be absent for the day and the
teacher was not notified in advance, please call into the school office to let
us know by 9:00 a.m. Absences must be excused by a written note or an email to
the school office office@zionmonroe.org (not a
text). If your child is out due to illness for three days or more, we must
receive a doctor’s note per health department requirements.
Students in grades 6-8 are gearing up for their WELS
area schools Softball Day at Crown of Life, Warren on Friday, September 17th.
6-8 students are asked to bring softball or baseball gloves for use during
recesses and at Phy-Ed on Fridays. If you happen to have any extra ball gloves
to spare, we would love to borrow them for students who need them.
Do you use the Scrip program?
This year several school families using Scrip last school year reduced their
combined tuition costs for this school, with one family saving over $1200
alone! It only costs a little bit of your time, but the savings could be substantial.
You can use Scrip for your own family’s tuition, or designate it to help
another school family. More information on the program is available on the
school bulletin board.
·
If your child is ill with any
type of cold or fever or you suspect they are coming down with something,
please keep them home.
·
If you child suffers allergy
symptoms, you must send a note indicating so to your child’s teacher, including
if they are using allergy medication.
·
If you suspect a fever, please
check your child’s temperature before bringing them to school. We have
purchased several hospital grade thermometers to check and recheck temperatures
if we suspect a fever. If your child has a fever (100.4 degrees F or above), we
must send them home.
Please be considerate of these requirements so
that we can keep on serving our families safely.
