Zion School Connection #10 - October 20, 2025

End of Quarter - Early Dismissal

School classes will dismiss early at 11a.m. on Friday, October 24. Don’t forget to come back for the CEA Harvest Party starting at 5:30 p.m.

CEA Harvest Party and Trunk-or-Treat  this Friday, October 24 5:30-7:30 p.m.

This Friday, October 24 is our Zion Harvest Party and Trunk-or-Treat. Games and activities will be from 5:30 to

7:00 p.m. Then we will excuse the kids to the parking lot for the Trunk-or-Treat. Come with your family to enjoy carnival style games, pizza and pie, pumpkin decorating, a cake walk, and have fun with friends. We are switching to a punchcard system this year.  After each game is played your child will get their card punched.  When their card is filled (10 games) they may go turn it in to spin for two prizes!

The Trunk-or-Treat will be held in the Zion parking lot from 7-7:30 p.m. Vehicles participating in the trunk-or-treat can park their vehicle in the designated area by the playground upon arrival.  Please be set up by 6:50 p.m. Want to host a trunk for the trunk-or-treat? Please contact Marleise Gutschow at 734-755-6844.

We are also asking for some food and drink donations again this year. Please sign up so we know what is covered before the party.

Sign Up Genius - sign up for donations, contest and trunk or treat:

Please let us know if you will be participating in the Pie Baking contest by turning in the form sent out by tomorrow, Monday, October 20 (also available on the table in the school entrance) to Mrs. Vanisacker and signing up on the Sign-up Genius page linked above. The pies will be available for dessert! Thank you very much for your help in making this a fun time for our Zion families.

Children and adults are welcome to come in costume, but we ask that costumes are positive and family friendly. (Please avoid horror and occult themes. Let’s glorify God in all we do.)

“Nut Aware” Policy Adoption for Zion Lutheran School

Please see attached to the email and hard copy versions of our newsletter a copy of our school’s new “Nut Aware” policy that was recently adopted by our Board of Education and Church council for our school starting at the beginning of the second quarter. Please read the policy document carefully, as it impacts all of our classrooms to some degree. While we cannot guarantee a nut-free facility, we hope that this policy promotes practices which will help to make our facility safer for all the students that we serve now and in the future.

For the safety of ALL of our students, we ask our school students and families to abide by these guidelines. We understand that they may be somewhat inconvenient, but they allow us and our students to demonstrate Christian love and concern for those students at risk. Not having your favorite snack at school is a small inconvenience for the opportunity to develop Christian character and show love by putting another’s needs above your own. As a school family we want all of our students to have the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe environment. We appreciate everyone helping us to achieve this goal for the good of Christ’s lambs and sheep. If you have any questions concerning the policy, please speak to Mr. Schneck.
