School Picture Day
School picture day is this Tuesday, October 14. This year our school photographer will be Floral City Photography. Portrait packet order forms have previously been sent home for those wishing to purchase packets. Extra copies are available on the table in the school entrance.
Chapel Service
School families are invited to join us for our morning school chapel service this week Wednesday, October 15 at 8:05 a.m. Parents, family and friends are always welcome! This year’s chapel offering is supporting our church’s new ministry work in the country of Australia. Please pray for this ministry and the people it serves.
Sports - Girls’ Volleyball
Girls’ volleyball practices start this week. Volleyball is open to girls in grades 3-8. Practices this week will be Tuesday, October 14 from 3-4:30 p.m. and Thursday, October 16 from 3-4 p.m. All participants need knee pads and athletic shoes for practice and games, and black shorts for games. Uniform tops will be provided. Please contact Stacey Sordahl if you have any questions.
Our first volleyball matches are the HCA Jamboree on Saturday, October 18 beginning at 9 a.m.
Sports - Boys’ Cornhole League
Starting this week, Mr. Roth will again be running a cornhole league for our grade 3-8 boys who are interested. Cornhole League will play on Tuesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 16 from 3-4 p.m. Please contact Ryan Roth if you have any questions.
Sports - Soccer
Soccer Players are reminded to please return their cleaned soccer jerseys to Mr. Roth by Wednesday of this week.
Harvest Party and Trunk-or-Treat - Friday, October 24
Zion is having their Harvest Party Friday October 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We are switching to a punchcard system this year. After each game is played your child will get their card, hole punched. When their card is filled (10 games) they may go turn it in to spin for two prizes!
Trunk or Treat will be held in the Zion parking lot from 7-7:30 p.m. Please sign up below. You can park your vehicle in the designated area by the playground upon arrival. Please be set up by 6:50 p.m.
We are also asking for some food and drink donations again this year. Please sign up so we know what is covered before the party. Pizza will be provided.
We will also be including a Pie Baking Contest at our Harvest Party! Please let us know if you will be participating in the Pie Baking contest by turning in the form sent out last week (also available on the table in the school entrance) to Mrs. Vanisacker and signing up on the Sign-up Genius page linked below. The pies will be available for dessert! Thank you very much for your help in making this a fun time for our Zion families.

First Quarter Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our first quarter of the school year will be completed in two weeks on Friday, October 24. For our first quarter student reports we like to schedule appointments with parents to talk about their children's progress. Parent-teacher consultations for the first quarter will be held Wednesday and Thursday evenings, October 29 and 30, and during the morning on Friday, October 31. Please look for an email later this week with details for parents to sign up for a consultation time through Sign-Up Genius.
Zion Gear Available through All-Heart Athletics
The Zion Gear store through All Heart Athletics is open from now through October 19. Shop online for Zion Lutheran Church and School clothing items in a variety of colors, including a new ZLS logo designed by our own Nick Roth! This is the only time the store will be available before Christmas. We plan to open it again in the spring if there is demand.
Purchases can be picked up in the store when ready (approximately 3 weeks after October 19) or from the school when the orders are fulfilled.

Delicious Coffee with Friends!
The Warrior Oasis Cafe is open on TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS in the gym. After dropping off the kiddos, come enjoy a great cup of coffee or hot tea with fellow parents and friends before heading out for the day, or grab a cup to go. Coffee is served starting at 7:45 a.m. Cost is a free-will donation to the 7th-8th Field Trip Fund.
Warrior Oasis
The Zion Upper Grades “Warrior Oasis” is selling milk and juice options for lunches to students daily. Students in grades K-8 wanting to purchase milk or juice for lunch can do so across from the school library at the start of lunch hour, 11:45 to 11:55 a.m. Purchases are cash only. Profits will go towards the upper grade field trip fund.
