A Note on School Christmas Services

Our students are busy preparing the school Christmas services for Wednesday, December 17. These are very important services where our students have the privilege of doing “angels’ and shepherds’ work” as they share the message of Jesus with family and friends. All Zion students are expected to participate. Our Warrior Voices and handchime choirs will also be presenting. Please help your child to prepare their recitations and songs, and invite family and friends to this special worship service!

Chapel Service

School families are invited to join us for our morning school chapel service on Wednesday, December 10 at 8:05 a.m. Parents, family and friends are always welcome to worship with us! A reminder that this year’s chapel offering is supporting our church’s new ministry work in the country of Australia. Please support and pray for this ministry and the people it serves.

Holiday Food Drive

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK TO DONATE! Donations need to be brought in by Friday, December 12. WE ARE ADDING A LITTLE FRIENDLY COMPETITION AMONG OUR CLASSROOMS. The classrooms will compete to see who can bring the most items. Classroom donated items will be collected on the designated bleacher benches on the stage. The winning classroom will receive a sweet treat!

Zion Lutheran School is partnering with the Zion congregation for a Drive-Up Holiday Food Drive. Our plan is to make meal boxes for families and individuals to be able to drive up and collect. There is a complete wish list in the west foyer and the table in the school entrance of items we will be collecting. These items will then be divided into distribution boxes. On December 13 from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. people can drive up and have a box brought out to their car. It will run while donations last. Do you know any families with needs this Christmas season? Please invite them to come by for a box.

Do you want to give something other than food? We will also support the New Beginnings Home for Mothers with a drive for diapers, formula, wipes, baby shampoo, lotion and other necessities. There is a more specific list of what they need shared as well. These items will be taken to their facility on Monday, December 15.

If you want to give a monetary donation for either collection please leave it in the office by Wednesday, December 10 so that we have time to purchase items to complete the packages.

Thank you to everyone in advance for your generosity and support. Please contact Mrs. Vanisacker if you have any questions.

Tuesday is Picture Retake Day

Our Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, December 9. The photographer will be available from 9 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Original packages MUST be returned to the photographer on Picture Retake Day. If your child missed the first picture day and you need an order form, extra copies are available in the church/school office.

Cheerleading/Pee Wee Poms

Advent Devotions for Families

It’s never too late to start! Advent marks the beginning of the Christian church year. The season of Advent leading up to Christmas is a great opportunity to make daily devotions a part of your family’s preparations. Linked here is a school family favorite, The Jesse Tree:  https://issuu.com/mlc.edu/docs/adventdevotions2020_web  It is a child-friendly family devotional using a Jesse Tree to count down to the celebration of Jesus’ birth. This is a simple way to focus your family on the reason for the season. The devotional, developed by our ministerial training school Martin Luther College,  can also be found online along with other seasonal devotion series at https://mlc-wels.edu/publications/seasonal-devotions/ We hope that your family enjoys time together around God’s Word this Advent season.

If you would like a hard copy of The Jesse Tree, please see Mr. Schneck.
